Tips for Getting New Products
to Market Faster

Product packaging plays an invaluable role in the overall marketing and positioning of a cosmetic, personal care or fragrance line. However, packaging design can be a long, multi-faceted process. The speed with which the sample is produced is key. By providing five simple, yet key pieces of information, we can more efficiently produce the requested packaging sample – pointing the design process toward a speedy conclusion and getting your product to market faster.

1. Give A Detailed Request – Be sure to specify sampling goals – Is your request for color matching, standards or loose parts?

2. Provide A Physical Target – A Packaging Overview should be provided that gives us a full understanding of the physical target of the package – including size, shape and texture of the package’s design. Even better, whenever possible, provide a physical object on which to base the color and finish you desire.

3. Supply Raw Parts – Make sure to send raw parts in sufficient quantity to fulfill your request. Ideally, all projects should be developed using the exact production part.
In general, we require 250 raw parts to establish color match and standard boards.

4. Have Specific Deadlines - The Packaging Overview should include a production schedule that lists all key dates and deliverables up front. This allows us to plan appropriately to have the sample completed in advance of deadlines.

5. Include Contact Information - The sample request should list all appropriate ways to reach the company requesting the sample, as well as primary and secondary contact numbers for the project’s point of contact. In the event of that person being unreachable, the contact information should also be included for any additional staff members that are authorized to make final decisions concerning the sample.
